trilineer diagrams, and tabular listings of major ion milliequivalent percentages by well •
ere presented in Appendix 7-4.
Introduction. Yoast alluvial water quality has been monitored at nine wells. Yell YpAL14
has monitored the Annand Draw alluvium; Yells YGAL15, YGAl16, YGAL77, end YGAL18 have
monitored water quality in the Grassy Creek alluvium end tributary alluvium; end Yells
YSAL7, YSAL3, YSALB, end YSAL72 have monitored the Sege Creek alluvium. Table 7-72
presents summery comments regarding water types depicted on trilineer diagrams
constructed for each alluvial well (see Appendix 7-4). Pater types for each alluvial
well were determined from [he percent milliquivalent tables also included in Appendix 7-4.
Annand Drew. Yell YAAL74 hoe exhibited five separate water types with MgCeNeSO4NC03
predominant. 504 has consistently been the predominant anion, while cations have shown
significant scatter. YAAL74 has exhibited the predominant water type (MBCaNaSO4XC03)
during spring through fell, while the one winter sample collected showed a NeNgCeSO4HC03
type. Field pX values range from 7.2 to 8.7 (average value 7.46), indicating this water
is clightly alkaline. The high pH value (8.7) uas measured during the winter season.
Pith an average hardness of 800.6 mg/l of CaC03, the Annand Drew alluvium contains very
herd water. Total dissolved solids (TDS) ranges from 876 to 1802 mg/l, averages 1373
mg/l, end generally increases sli phtly as the year progresses from spring into winter.
Sulfate averages 632 mg/l, and also increases slightly es the year progresses seesoneLly.
Baseline sampling et Well YAAL74 indicates only slight seasonal variability in the Annand
Drew alluvium.
Concentrations of numerous trace elements have been detected in this well, including Be,
B, Cr, Cu, end Zn. Stendsrds established for domestic, irrigation, and livestock uses for
these end other trace elements ere listed in Teblea 7-19, 7-21, and 7-23 in the following
section of Teb 7 titled "Ground Water Suitebi lity". The domestic drinking water standards
(Table 7-19) for ee, Cu, Cl, F, end Zn ere greater then 1 mg/l. The irrigation
(agricultural) standards for F, Fe, Zn, end Pb ere greater then 7 mg/l. The livestock
drinking water standards for B, Cl, Cr, F, end Ni ere greater than 1 mg/l. Depending on
the potential use, concentrations of these parameters less than 1 mg/l do not suggest any
significance. At YAAL74, neither B or Zn were detected et concentrations greeter then 1
mg/l. Further references in this section of Tab 7 to detectable concentrations of trace
elements greater than 1 mg/l in Toast ground water will be limited to those parameters
that have standards equal to or greeter than 1 mg/l. A comparison of all trace elements
measured et roast ground water monitoring wells with the three sets of standards is
40 Revised 03/01/95
