determine curcent groundwater conditions, levels. direction of flow and quality by installing, measuring
and sampling mondoring wells near the sand and gravel extraction area The program currently calls for
the installing o1 three mondonng wells to detennme the effects on the ground water table dunng periods of
mine de-watering. The water level in each will be mentored and recorded on a monthly basis beginning
upon the completion of the well and will continue until the sand and gravel extraction process has ceased
In the event that draw down of the water table is greater than two feet in the wells adjacent to the sites
west boundary. remr:d+al activities could then be planned, such as, reducing pumping rates until the water
level in the mOn+lOnng wells return to an acceptable level.
The first step of the mirnng process Mnll be the removal of zero to six inches of topsoil The topsoil will be
removed using scrapers, loaders and dump trucks and stored m stockpiles surround+ng the +dentihed
extraction area and w+ll be used during the reclamation phase of the mine. Once the topsoil) has been
removed, the overburden removal process will begin As was the case with the topsoil removal,
overburden will be excavated to the lop of the sand and gravel resource using scrapers, loaders, and
dump Irucks. Overburden will also be stockpiled adjacent to the topsoil stockpiles as well as wdhm the
extrachon area Overburden that will not be used m the reclamation efforts described m Exh+Wt E and
Exhibit F will be removed from the site for use as structural fill. To prevent erosion, all o! the stockpiles
adjacent to the extraction area will be hydro- seeded wdhin 12 months of establishment al a rate of 15
bulk pounds per acre. The seed milx consilsts of the fdlow+ng
Sheep Fescue 1 5 #PLSIAc. Haul Irucks will transport the sand and gravel
resource to a nearby crushing and screernng area located within the extrachon area, or the utnmate
delivery site The crushed and screened material will then be loaded, transported and stockpiled nearby
or hauled to a construction site for use Extraction of the sand and gravel resource will occur m a single
lift to a point one foot above the underlying bedrock stratum.
The total Affected Land per Rule 1 1(3) of the Miners! Rufes and Regulafrons or' fhe Colorado Mined Land
Reclamation Board for the Extraction o! Consfrucfion Materials, amended August, 2001 is:
Rev ON29/08
