RECLAPIATION PLAN
CRAIG PIT - NIELSONS, INC.
3-8-1977
Two types of reclamation are planned for the Craig Pit. The site
contains an existing pit which was mined by others before Nielsons,
Inc. obtained a lease to operate at this site. This area is delineated
on the general map and contains a relatively level pit floor and steep
(l:l) pit walls. The remaining affected area is in its natural state.
The existing pit floor that is within the affected area boundary
(approximately 5 acres) will be reclaimed back to its present state
which is a smooth gravelly bench. This work will consist of removing and/or
spreading stockpiled material and is not expected to be performed until
the closing of operations which may be twenty years from present. The
east and south pit walls are not within the affected area, are not planned
for disturbance, and are not expected to be reclaimed.
The north pit wall and the natural ground that is disturbed are
planned to be reclaimed for dry ranoe land use. Due to the depth of gravel
wry a~~ .i ,s. _:\
at this site (up to 50'), it is felt that a 2:1 side slope will provide
the best combination of reclamation and mining efficiency. This slope will
be created by the excavation operation and exist on the north and east
sides of the worked out pit. The newly created pit walls and floors will
contain approximately 13 acres and be reclaimed.
The first step of this reclamation will be to spread spoil from the
crusher along with subsoil from stockpiles over the worked out area.
Topsoil will then be taken from stockpiles and placed to a minimum depth
