<br />• 3. That the entire permit area should not be bonded at the same rate. A <br />portion of the area will not be disturbed by mining. Most of the area <br />could be planted back to wheat immediately if needed. <br />4. For simplicity, only one piece of each type of equipment is costed. <br />Actual number of machines used will be based on availability and need. <br />Economical factors will play an important part in equipment selection. <br />5. For the basis of these calculations, it is assumed that each machine <br />works at 80% efficiency during an 8-hour shift. This takes into consid- <br />eration such factors as operator skill, minor repairs and adjustments, <br />personnel delays, and delays caused by job layout. <br />6. Operator time will be charged at a straight time rate. <br />7. A cost adjustment factor of 14% is used due to mine location as shown in <br />• Rental Blue Book. <br />8. Operator costs are based on United Mine Workers of America wages for <br />1982. <br />9. The altitude adjustment factor and rolling resistance (RR) are taken from <br />Edition 12 of the Caterpillar Performance Handbook. <br />• <br />L-2 <br />
