F
M~~~~R STATE OF COLORADO
Roy Romer, Gove
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
FRED R. Are there arty water wells located in or within 200 feet of the
~,'~ permit areal If so, please indicate their locations and owners on
this exhibit.
2. You indicated that there are two gas/oil wells located on-site.
However, only one is shown on your map. Please indicate the
location of the eastern well.
Exhibit D-Mining Plan.
1. It is stated that topsoil and vegetation will be stripped prior to
mining. This topsoil will be placed around the pit perimeter for
later use. However, much of the perimeter will be no more than 25
feet wide, and it is planned that access roads will be along these
perimeters also. I am concerned that the perimeter area will be of
insufficient size for placement and protection of the topsoil.
Please indicate how much topsoil will be salvaged (in cubic yards),
specifically where it will be placed such that there is sufficient
area to place it out of the wdy of equipment access routes and
where it can be permanently stored until it is used for reclamation
to prevent excess handling. Also, to prevent wind and water
erosion, we recommend that the topsoil stockpiles be sloped to 3:1
or less, and vegetated with a cover crop until needed for
reclamation. Please commit to this and indicate the cover crop
seed mixture to be used. Please see Exhibit J, question N1 for
further discussions of topsoil quantity to be salvaged.
2. Mining will be done in five phases. However, I cannot tell from
your description the maximum number of acres to be worked at aqy
given time.
215 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 Tel.
