The quartz monzonite deposit strikes under the creek
alluvium and then rises again steeply to the north of the creek.
The bottom area of the quarry is within the flood plain limits
established by the Corps of Engineers.
The average ground water table through the South Saint Vrain
•
alluvium is 2 feet above the creeks normal flow levels; adjacent to the
quarry.
Runoff in South Saint Vrain Creek is comprised mostly of snow melt
with the highest flows occuring in May, June and July. Suter peaks
occur as a result of thunderstorms over the lower parts of the basin.
Ground water in the area is available from the alluvium and is
hydraulically connected to the surface creek system. There are no deep
wells near or adjacent to the quarry. A shallow registered well supplies
the house located on Andesite Rock Company superintendent residence.
Ground water movement represectta a very small portion of the surface flaw
of the Creek.
The quarry operation has no appreciable affect on the surface or
ground water aquifers of the area.
The settling pond in the production area can be fed with small

amounts of fresh water from the ditch that connects it with South Saint
Vrain Creek.
