GENERAL
This report presents the results of our geotechnical
laboratory study and slope stability analysis for the proposed
reclamation of the portal area at the East Side Coal Company
Mine. The site is Located about five (5) miles north of
Silt, Colorado near the Harvey Gap Reservoir. The purpose
of our study was to assess the stability of tl~e proposed
slope at the completion of the reclamation project. uur
geotechnical slope stability analysis w,i :. ba:;e r1 on lal,uratory
remolded triaxial tests performed on soil samples received in
our laboratory and on a cross section of the proposed
reclamation area showing both the existing slope configuration
and the proposed final slope configuration provided by t1r.
Steve Self. It is our understandiny baE.ed on conversations
• with Mr. Steve Self that the material received in our
laboratory was a sample of thi: foundation :or L; at Lh1• site.
Our analysis also included soil .strength values for the
proposed fill material determined in our earlier study an.l
report for the proposed spoil pile. T}le results of our
laboratory work are presented in Appendix A.
DISCUSSION AND RECOMMENDATION:•
Subdrains
It is our opinion that water will tend Co collect at
the fill/natural contact.
