~I I I I~ I I~ ~ I~ ~~~~ ~~~
Gold Hill Mining Company
P. O. Box 1523
Longmont, Colorado 80501
August 17, 1983

Mr. James B. McArdle AUG 19 1gg3
Senior Reclamation Specialist
Mined Land Reclamation Division fdINEO LAND RcCLAhIAiIpN DIVISIOFI
1313 Sherman Street Colo. UeUt. of Nalurai F;esources
Denver, Colorado 80203
Dear Mr. McArdle:
This letter and the enclosed exhibits are in response to the
questions and comments that you raised in your letter of
August 11, 1983, regarding our Cash mine application.
A. Exhibit B - Mining Plan
1. Accompanying this letter is an amended map which
clearly defines the permit boundaries, including all signifi-
cant new roadwork and those portions of the old road that will
be abandoned and reclaimed.
B. Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan
1. In addition to the trees and shrubs, we will plant
various acid tolerant native grasses on the field test site.
The assistance of the Mined Land Reclamation Division staff in
selecting grass species which may help revegetate acid mine
dumps will be appreciated. If these field test are success-
ful, we will include these grasses in our plans for revegeta-
ting the Cash mine dump.
2. The use of a buried culvert as part of the final re-
clamation plan for the Cash Gulch area has been reconsidered.
Instead of a buried culvert, a metal or concrete trough will
be used to convey surface runoff water over the existing mine
dump that is situated in the bottom of Cash Gulch.
3. A grass seed mixture which contains native grass
species common to the area will be used rather than the grass
seed mixture suggested for revegetating the abandoned portions
of the access road. A mixture that contains Slender Wheat-
grass, Mountain Muhly, Parry Oat-grass and Thurber Fescue will
correspond to the native grasses in the area between the
Jonathan mine and the Cash mine. We will mix and plant these
grasses according to the Mined Land Reclamation Division
staff's recommendation; including any alternative mixtures of
,_ native grasses that your staff may find more suitable.
