DANIELSON, DEPUTY STATE ENGINEER
SUBJECT: OCCIDENTAL - LOGAN WASH MINE, RIO BLANCO COUNTY, APPLICATION
FOR MINING AND RECLAMATION PERMIT
1
As requested by your office, we have reviewed the application for an underground
oil shale mine near DeBeque. Exhibit N, page 9, contains a list of water rights
owned by the applicant. The decrees for the conditional water rights in W-1895
and W-1897 may have expired because the applicant may have failed to file State-
ments of Quadrennial Finding of Reasonable Diligence in May, 1977. The remain-
ing water rights should generally be sufficient to provide the 4 to 5 gallons per
minute requirements mentioned in Exhibit G. We recommend approval of the
application with the condition that any water purchased when Occidental's rights
are out of priority be obtained decreed for industrial purposes.
Q.,l~a.W;P,ti.-
A.
