Taft Hi11 Road
Fort Collins, Colorado 0522
Re: File Numbers M 77-439,
Dear Mr. Reefer:
M-77440, M-77-441 and M-78-256
III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
As you know, last summer's inspections identified several problems with regard
to the above-referenced permits. Specifically, we recommended that Sterling
submit an amendment to combine File Numbers M-77-439, M-77-440 and M-18-256.
Additionally, the Johnson Pit (M-77-441) was never released, and, in fact,
some of the final performance standards had not been met. During the
inspection of June 6, 1985 we agreed that a Technical Revision would be needed
to clarify pre - 1973 mining areas, etc. at the Johnson Pit. This was to have
been submitted no later than September 6, 1985.
We are not necessarily concerned with past deadlines, however, the problems
remain unresolved, and this is a good time to complete previously unfinished
business. Please notify us of your plans to incorporate the three adjacent
permits, including a fairly specific timetable. Also, please submit a
Technical Revision for the Johnson Pit which specifically clarifies our
existing documents to show those areas which Sterling has worked since 1973.
The Technical Revision would also include information as to involvement with
the City of Fort Collins. Please submit this information as soon a.s possible.
Feel free to call if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from
you shortly.
Si ely,
// /_
L j~ifG ~~
-~/
`David ~rry
Reclamation Specialist
DB/bdc
6664E
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
