VEGETATION INFORMATION
The following vegetation data was gathered from the United States Department of Agriculture,
Natural Resources Conservation Service.
The native vegetation consists of Alkali Sacaton, Switchgrass, Needleandthread, Western
Wheatgrass, Saltgrass, Blue Grama, Sand Dropseed, and Forbs. These grasses occur on the east
side of the South Platte River. The west side of the River is a fallow field which has overgrown
with weeds.
Along the River are cottonwood and willow trees with their tall and mid-grass communities of
bluestem and indiangrass between the widely spaced trees.
