DANIELSON, DEPUTY STATE ENGINEER <br />SUBJECT: SCHMI~T-TIAGO CONSTRUCTION - TURKEY CANYON QUARRY, EL PASO <br />COUNTV, APPLICATION FOR MINING AND RECLAMATION PERMIT <br />As request@d by your office, we have reviewed the application for a <br />granite quarry gouthwest of Colorado Springs. Exhibit F states that, <br />"water resources are not affected by this operation ." We require <br />additional evid@nce to substantiate this claim before we can recommend <br />approval of the operation, as follows: <br />1. Is wat@r required for domestic, sanitary, dust control, <br />aggregdte washing, or irrigation purposes at any time <br />during mining or reclamation? If so, what are the sources <br />and water requirements for each of these purposes? <br />2. What water rights are owned or controlled by the applicant? <br />Have thhese rights been decreed for the specific purposes <br />for which the water is used? <br />3. Does mining in the gullet' tributary to Turkey Creek disruFt the <br />natural flow of water in the creek? If so, does this disruption <br />affect senior downstream water rights? <br />4.
