Leafy spurge: Stress the plant, mow, spray with herbicide and plant perennial grasses in
the fall.
Yellow toadflax: Prevent toadflax from going to seed. If the toadflax occurs in small,
distinct patches, spot treatment may be adequate. Mark the patches and
apply a recommended herbicide.
Musk thistle: Keep from seeding. Dig, mow, spray or pull. Mowing alone is only
effective if done each week over several growing seasons. Tilling is not a
recommended control because it will break up the roots and stimulate
new plants from the root and shoot pieces. Plant perennial grasses in the
fall.
`Weed Control Measures supplied by EI Paso County Forestry & Noxious Weeds Division
Jemadojin Sand Mine May 2006
Weed Management Plan Page 3
