3. Deposits with subscript 1 formed probably during the
• Holocene; whereas 2 and 3 may represent Wisconsin deposits. In
addition to Quaternary deposits, exposed bedrock is indicated on
the map. Where necessary the bedrock symbols as described in the
Explanation of Map Units are in parentheses following the map
symbol for the Quaternary deposit.
SUGGESTIONS TO MAP USERS
These geologic maps should be used as a guide to the location of
geologic conditions that should be considered before any land-use
change. Because bedrock and surficial geologic units are
analyzed with regard to identifying potentially hazardous
conditions, a brief description of their attendant geologic
hazards is included in the map explanation. However, the
companion geologic-hazard maps should be consulted for a more
detailed description of hazards. The geologic maps are not
intended to be a thorough analysis of a particular site or land
use and are not intended to replace detailed field investigations
of specific areas or sites. We recommend that the maps serve as
a basis for further, detailed investigations such that the safety
and feasibility of specific projects can be adequately evaluated.
•
•
P6PMIT APPLIGTIOR EXH-12 - 8 -
