EXHIBIT A, PART 1: LEGAL DESCRIPTION The affected land to be encompassed in this permit to mine lies upon two patented federal mining claims, one lode and one placer. The location of these lands is shown on"Exhibit A, Part 2: Location Map" included in this permit application. The affected lands from quarrying activities all occur within the boundaries of the London Lode Claim, Mineral Survey No. 4411, and the White Marble No. 2 Placer Claim, Mineral Survey No. 46218. The two claims affected lie within the protracted bounds of Sections 1 and 12 of Township 12 South, Range 88 West, of the 6'h Principal Meridian, within Gunnison County, Colorado. More particularly, the descriptions of said claims are found in the Mineral Surveys numbered above. Modern surveys were performed in 1965 by the Vermont Marble Company (OMYA, Inc.), and again in 1988 by Colorado Yule Marble Company(CYMC). Affected Area Description Beginning at a point a distance of approximately 10 feet on a bearing of South 74 degrees West of the southwest corner of the Yule Lode Claim No. 4530, such point also being 10 feet west of the existing private access road to the quarry, such point also being 10 feet west of the west boundary of what is known as the "bunkhouse bench' at the Yule Quarry: Thence a distance of 290 feet on a bearing of North 74 degrees East, along the south boundary of the Yule Lode Claim No. 4530: Thence a distance of 170 feet on a bearing of South 45 degrees East: Thence a distance of 330 feet on a bearing of South 20 degrees East: Thence a distance of 470 feet on a bearing of South 7 degrees East: Thence a distance of 220 feet on a bearing of South 68 degrees West: Thence a distance of approximately 360 feet on an approximate bearing of North 26 degrees West to the northwest comer of the south quarry entry (also known as Quarry Entry #3): Thence a distance of approximately 40 feet on an approximate bearing of North 65 degrees East to the northeast comer of quarry Entry #3: Thence a distance of approximately 180 feet on an approximate bearing of North 26 degrees West to the southeast comer of the middle quarry entry (also known as Quarry Entry No. 2): Thence generally north and slightly west along the western edge of the middle and north(also known as Quarry Entry No. 1) quarry entries to the northeast corner of Quarry Entry No.1: Thence a distance of approximately 170 feet on a bearing of approximately North 24 degrees West to the place of beginning. The total of the affected area is approximately 305,000 square feet, or 7.0 acres. 7
