• OVERVIEW <br />Douglas O'Bannon Pit <br />The O'Bannon pit is located approximately 7 miles east of Fouth Fork. <br />It is in the SW 1/4, NE 1/4, of Section 27, Twp. 40N, R4 E, NMPM. <br />The affected area contains less than 10 acres which includes the de- <br />signated haul road. <br /> <br />The site is composed of a thick section of Quarternary sand and gravel <br />in a river terrace developed by the Rio Grande river, and overlies a thick <br />section of Felsite (igneous) bedrock. <br />There is a stockpile of material owned by the Riu Grande Railroad in <br />the affected area that must not be disturbed. <br />When mining and reclamation are completed, the sides and floor of the <br />• pit.will be fertilized, seeded and mulched with slopes no steeper than 3:1. <br />The affected area is located within two eastward flowing parallel <br />ditches that will not be disturbed during mining operations. <br />• <br />
