Physin9raphic Features <br />This site occurs on flat to gently slopinn ~.~,~!~~•. in Middle <br />and North Park. The slope of this site is no T,rc~ than 5. <br />The direction of this slope is not important. - <br />Elevation ranges from 7300 feet to 8300 feet a! ea level. <br />2. Climatic Features <br />• ~ Average annual precipitation is 9 to 12 inches with most of <br />[he moisture falling during the growing t•;,snn. <br />The optimum growing season for native plants i=. June 1 to <br />July 15• The frost free period Is 50 to 90 day,. <br />3. Native (potential) Vegetation <br />The site has a salt tolerant grassland shrub aspect. Western <br />wheatgrass and saltgrass are the dominant plants on the site <br />making up nearly 3/4 of the vegetation. Other grasses and <br />grasslikes hh'ich are native Lo the site are Indian ricegrass, <br />alkali bluegrass, alkali grass, rushes, sedges, and squirrel- <br />tail. Forbs include owl clover and aster. Winterfat, rabbit- <br />brush, alkali sagebrush, and greasewood are native shrubs. <br />This site is treeless. Optimum ground cover percent. <br />Invaders on this site are; snakeweed, fort:. c:~~ and <br />introduced species. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
