Positive grediente will be maintained for surface runoff above the reconstructed slide
area. Xaul road drainage will be observed to ensure that it is not being intercepted by
cracks within the drainage ditch and allowed to infiltrate into the fill.
Reconstruetion
The slide material will be dozed or hauled down to the toe of the slide, across the dam,
and to the excess spoil pile east of Pond OOb. there ere two options at this point for the
slide repair end stabilization.
Option 1. If, in the act of removing [he slide materiel, competent bedrock (claystone) is
encountered, slide remediation will be conducted much like the Pond 006 slide repair. The
haul road will be moved to the south approximately 25 feet to allow for slope reduction.
The resulting outslope will be 2:h to t:v (see Figure 73-4B-3). According to [he SB-SLOPE
estimate, this will result in a factor of safety of 7.B9 (see Figure 73-48-5).
The emergency spillway for Pond 006 will be shaped and riprapped to its original design
configuration.
Option 2. If, for some unknown reason competent claystone is not encountered, after
removal of the slide material, reconstruction of the slope will take place. Based on the
results of Standard Proctor tests, material that was hauled from the site will be hauled
back to the site once the moisture conditions are acceptable (approximately 75 percent).
The material will be compacted in lifts (approximately 90 percent) with each bench having
an approximate height of 20 feet and a finished width of 10 feet. Slope to the next bench
will be 7-1/2:7, resulting in en overall slope of 2h:1v from head to toe of slope (see
Figure 13-48-4). A rock underdrain will be constructed in the fill to intercept any
ground water, perched water, etc., and safely release it without causing instability [o
the structure. According to the stability Calculations, FiBUre 73-6B-b, the resulting
factor of safety is 7.90.
Again, the emergency spillway for Pond 006 will be shaped and riprapped to its original
design configuration.

13.68-9
