Y
Partial Permit Revegetation Plan
Approximately 23 acres of road and mine bench area are scheduled for topsoil-
ing and revegetation as a result of construction activities in 1980. Should
complete permit approval not be possible, Colony intends to revegetate these
23 acres in the following manner:
Topsoil will be placed on the 23 acres at a depth of 6-12 inches. Given a
30 percent topsoil loss factor due to equipment, operator and terrain limita-
tions, an additional 7 acres of material must be stripped. For planning pur-
poses, Colony intends to strip 6 inches of topsoil off of 60 acres of the
Parachute-Rhone loam association (mapping unit 2CE) which is enough tc replace
an entire one-foot depth of topsoil on the affected acreage. A suitable area
for this operation is located in the W2 of Section 5, Township 135, Range 95W.
The Parachute-Rhone loam is strippable to a 20-inch depth; thus the 6-inch
stripping operation will leave sufficient seedbed quality material in place to
allow revegetation of the topsoil removal area.
Upon replacement of topsoil, roads and the mine bench will be reclaimed accord-
ing to the MLR permit application. The topsoil removal area will be ripped
to a depth of 12 inches, then disced and harrowed or dragged to prepare the
seedbed. The surface will then be drill or broadcast seeded using the per-
manent seed mixture noted in Table E-3. The area will be mulched using
crimped straw (or other suitable mulch material) applied at 1500-2000 lb.
per acre. Shrub seedlings will be planted per Table E-5.
