For north and west facing <br />slopes we recommend Ponderosa Pine and Douglas Fir, for <br />south and east facing slopes we recommended Pinyon Pine and <br />Juniper. <br />14) The trees and shrubs will need to be watered 3 or 4 <br />times for the first 2 years to increase the likelyhood for <br />survival. <br />15) P-E-13 - Please be more specific as to the experiment area <br />in regards to seed mixtures, tree and shrub planting and <br />transplanting, mulching, soil amendments, fertilizer,watering, <br />etc. to be tested. Exhibit E - lJater information <br />1) Please supply the dimensions of the check dams, sediment <br />retension pond dam. <br />2) Please describe in greater detail the drainage of <br />terraces. <br />3) Will the intermitant streams be allowed to flow naturally <br />in the futur2~ The catchments and check dams appear to be <br />only temporary, how permanent are these structures? Exhibit 1 - Soils <br />1) The soils are very prone to erosion and summer precipitation <br />normally occurs in severe thunderstorms, for this reason, <br />revegetation needs to take place as rapidly as possible. <br />2) According to Rule 6.5 a., "In those areas where revegetation <br />is part of the reclamation plan, land shall be revegetated in <br />such a way as to establish a diverse,effective, and long- <br />lasting vegetation without continued dependence on irrigation, <br />soil amendments or fertilizer, and is at least equal in extent <br />of cover to the natural vegetation of the surrounding area." <br /> <br />
