EXHIBIT D - Mining Plan
The proposed Guenzi Gravel Pit site is to be operated as an open pit.
The general direction of mining will be west to east. It is anticipated
the depth of mining will be approximately 15 feet.
Topsoil will be stripped and stockpiled. Sloping of these stockpiles
will be no steeper than 3H:1V and the slopes will be mulched with
straw or manure to prevent water and wind erosion. The operator will
help control erosion during mining and help to prevent off-site erosion
by maintaining a 3H:1V slope in all mining areas.
The topsoil ranges from 3" to 4" in depth and the stockpiling will be
approximately 5300 cubic yards. Stockpiles of the topsoil will be in
the northwest corner of the proposed pit.
Screening and stockpiling of gravel at this site is not anticipated.
Furthermore, there will not be any leaching dumps, storage or waste dis-
charge areas, or structures of any type at the proposed site.
Gravel from this pit will be loaded on County trucks for direct use on
the County's road system.
The pit will not intercept any ground water. Ponding of water may occur
during periods of high moisture, but will not remain long due to the
absorption capacity of the soil. Interception of surface drainage will
not occur.
This gravel pit ~aill be operated as long as there is usable gravel at
this site. Reseeding will be accomplished when enough land (5 to 7 acres)
is available for reclaiming. It will not be economically feasible to
seed smaller tracts of land.
It is anticipated that well over 70,000 tons of gravel will be extracted
from this pit within the year, and the various phases of operations are
related to requirements for road maintenance. It is estimated that there
are seven to eight years of suitable gravel to be mined from the proposed
pit.
The soil beneath the gravel does not contain minerals, ores, or fossil fuels.
The site does not have any buildings, power lines, gas lines, oil or gas
wells or structures which could be damaged by operations.
EXHIBIT D - Mining Plan
