M04007MT
the soil strength potential (internal friction angle and
cohesion) of remolded samples tested,
the natural moisture content of samples tested, and
the moisture-density relationship of soil samples tested.
- The samples tested were at differing proportions of the on site
clay soil material and the coal gob.
- Our comments, suggestions and recommendations are based on the
soil strength parameters encountered during our laboratory
study, the subsurface soil and ground water conditions
encountered during our 10 November 2003 Geotechnical
Engineering Study for the site and the proposed gob pile
geometry.
2.0 SITE CHARACTERISTICS
Site characteristics include observed existing and pre-existing
site conditions that may influence the geotechnical engineering
aspects of the proposed site development.
2.1 Site Location
The site is located at the Bowie Number 2 Mine located
approximately four (4) miles east of Paonia, Colorado.
2.2 Site Conditions ,
At the time of our site visit the gob pile was constructed to
near one hundred (100) feet vertical with a two to one (2:1) slope
face.
2.3 Subsurface Conditions
The subsurface conditions for the gob pile foundation are
described in our 10 November 2003 Geotechnical Engineering Study.
2
~Cam6ert anD ~,ooociates
CONSULTING GEOTECMNIGL ENGINEERS AND
N ATERIAL TESTtN6
