M04007MT
APPENDIX A
The laboratory study consisted of performing:
Moisture content tests,
Moisture Content-dry density relationship tests, and
Triaxial compression strength tests.
TESTING
Moisture Content
Moisture contents were determined for each sample tested of the
samples provided. The moisture content was determined according
to ASTM Test Method D2216 by obtaining the moisture sample from
the bulk samples. The results of the moisture and dry density
determinations are presented on Figure A1.
Moisture Content-Dry Density Relationship Tests
' Moisture content-dry density relationship tests were conducted
on select soils subgrade samples obtained during our field study.
The moisture-density relationship tests were conducted in
' accordance with ASTM Test Method D698. The results of the
moisture-density relationship tests are presented on Figures A2
through A6.
' Triaxial Compression Strength Tests
' Triaxial compression strength properties of remolded samples
were evaluated in general accordance with testing procedures
' defined by ASTM Test Method D2850. An unconsolidated undrained
test was performed on each sample tested. The tests were
performed using a strain controlled triaxial compression testing
machine. The triaxial compression strength test results are
presented on Figures A7 through All.
Al
~Lam6ert ana S~,ooociateo
CONSULTING GEOTECNNICAL ENGINEERS AND
MATERIAL TESTING
