DANIELSON, DEPUTY STATE ENGINEER
SUBJECT: MOUNTAIN MOBILE MIX, INC. GARFIELD COUNTY, APPLICATION
FOR MINING AND RECLAMATION PERMIT
As requested by your office, we have reviewed the application for a gravel
pit near Rifle. We recommend that the applicant furnish the following
additional information before approval of the application:
1. Exhibit B indicates that the gravel will be "crushed, screened,
and washed" . Neither the source of industrial water that will
be used for dust control on processing equipment and haul
roads and for washing are identified nor are the water rights
that would be used for this purpose indicated.
2. Exhibit D, part B, states that there is "the possibility of a
slightly larger lake after reclamation", but the actual increase
in area is not provided. The effect upon streamflows as a
result of increased evaporation is not evaluated.
3. Exhibit E states that irrigation for revegetation will not be
used "unless it becomes necessary due to the existing con-
ditions of the season". What source and amounts of irrigation
water are available to the applicant?
J is A. Danielson
JAD/SSH: mvf
,`
cc: Lee Enewold, Div. Eng.
