point. This data point is located approximately one mile to the east of the mining site along the
Poudre River alluvial valley.
In response to Concern #8 listed under Exhibit G -Water Information, Option C was selected.
Option C, as presen e , re wires the applicant to develop and implement a ground water
monitoring plan to determine if the ground water levels have been impacted by. the mining
operation. ThFrtee~~r wells will be installed azound the perimeter of the site to obtain
baseline data and monitor ground water levels throughout the life of the mining operation. The
locations of the monitor wells are illustrated on Fi ur Ground water level measurements will
be taken on a monthly basis starting at a minimum of 12 months prior to exp~ure of
groundwater a[ the site and will continue throughout the life of the operation. The ground water
data will be submitted to the Division of Minerals and Geology and the Division of Water
Resources on a yearly basis or as requested.
In this localized area the general concern is increasing water levels and flooding lower areas
rather than lowering the water table. For that reason mitigation procedures will be handled on a
one to one basis. If at any time the ground water level increases more than 1~" above the
baseline data for that time of the yeaz, the situation will be evaluated with t e persons impacted.
The individual evaluations are necessary due to the natural fluctuations of the ground water
levels in this azea due to natural occurences such as abnormally high precipitation. An increase
in the ground water levels may not be attributable to the mining operation in all situations.
With the majority of the the drains left intact and the enhancement of the drain system the area
should see a positive affect on groundwater levels in the area.
Sincerely,
Tuttle Applegate, Inc.
Kyle Whitaker
Water Resource Engineer
cc: Mike Refer, CAMAS Colorado, Inc.
File #99-182
