RE-VEGETATION -The intent of the re-vegetation is the establishment of plant communities consistent
with the post-mine land use. After topsoil replacement, seed bed preparation and stabilization will be
conducted and will inGude one of the following: ripping, disking, harrowing and/or furrowing. This
procedure will assist in minimizing any adverse affects of soil compaction during the topsoil placement
process. Since the seeding will occur over a several year period, this will allow for continuous analysis of
re-vegetation success and determining the best type of preparation that should be used.
Seeding recommendations, contained within the initial application, follow:

Shee Fescue 1.5 #PLS/Ac.
Crested Wheat ress 1.5 #PLS/Ac.
Thicks ice Wheat rass 2.0 #PLS/Ac.
Slender Wheat rass 2.0 #PLS/Ac.
Pubescent Wheat rass 1.0 #PLS/Ac.
Orchard rass, Paiute 1.5 #PLS/Ac.
Winter Wheat 1.0 #PLS/Ac.
TOTAL 15.0 #PLS/Ac.
Received
MAR 0 7 2006
Grand Junction Field Office
Division of Minerals & Geology
Seeding will normally be done in the fall when temperatures and adequate soil moisture are present,
typically between September 15 and October 15. Seeding wilt be accomplished by either broadcasting,
or by using a seed drill. If broadcasting is used, seed rates will be doubled. Due to the nature of the
backfill material and topsoil found in the area, hay, straw or fiber mulch is considered to be necessary.
Mulching will be accomplished with a Gean certified weed free straw at a rate of 2000 pounds per acre
either crimped or °tacified° at 200 pounds per acre. °Biosol° fertilizer will be applied at a rate of at least
1000 pounds per acre.
• •
Material
Rate/Ac.
°Biosol" Fertilizer 1,000 lbs.
Fiber Mulch 2,000 lbs.
Tackifier 2001bs.
Straw Mulch a rox. 100 bales
WEED CONTROL -Weed control measures will be employed for control of any noxious weed species
identified by the Mesa County Weed and Pest Control Department throughout the life of the mine.
Control measures will also be used if the growth of weed species on the reclaimed area threatens further
spread of the weeds to nearby areas. Herbicides wiH be of those that are approved by the Soil
Conservation Service and applied by a licensed herbicide applier at a time recommended by the local
weed control authority for the specific weed to be treated. A Weed Control Plan will be utilized as follows:
^ Asemi-annual inspection of all disturbed areas by trained weed control personnel.
^ Treat any identfied infested areas with herbicde recommended by the local weed control
authorities.
^ Inspect the infested area after 2 weeks and re-apply herbicide as required.
^ Inspect the site at 4week intervals after the second inspection and re-treat as required.
^ Any weed control refuse left from previous year's growth will be burned on site.
Rev. 03!03/06
