It
appears that the notice provided the wrong claim number. Our records did show
an E1 Dorado M.S. 2268 in the proper location. A copy of a map is enclosed.
On May 14, 1990, Lewis French of my staff talked with Mr. Moser via telephone.
Mr. Moser described the operation as follows:
1. Approximately 1/3 of an existing dump would be hauled away.
2. Underground workings would be extended ~ to 50 feet.
3. No new road construction was needed.
4. No new surface disturbance would occur.
5. The claim is patented and owned by Yankee Boy Mining. Partners in
Yankee Boy Mining are Ralph Miller, Baxter Baily and I.W. Baily of
Colorado Springs.
We made the following comments to Mr. Moser and also offer them to you as our
comments on his proposal:
1. The claim borders National Forest lands on the east and west.
2. Any disturbance or work on National Forest lands require approval by
the Forest Service in advance.
3. The county road in Yankee Boy Basin is popular with su(runer time
recreationists (hikers, climbers and 4~aheel drive enthusiasts) and
should remain open.

In reply, Mr. Moser stated that he would visit the worksite with the claim
owner who was familiar with the claim boundaries. Mr. Moser would ensure that
Caring for the 4nd end Ssrvinp Pwpls
FS~t1200.2t1(7.821
