~ i r
Exhibit H - Wildlife Information
The operation is expected to have a minimal impact on wildlife during
' the course of operations. Since tl
for a number of years, much of the
' probably already happened. Mining
animals inhabiting the area to be
' foraging or hunting. According to
its in an old pit that has been worked
disturbance which could occur has
has the effect of immediately displacing
disturbed and animals using the area for
ratings criteria relating soils,
vegetation types, and wildlife habitat potentials, the existing affected
area to be redisturbed under its present conditions would be rated as poor
for rangeland or openland-type of habitat, but the surrounding undisturbed
area -- particularly the wooded area to the west of the pit -- would be
t considered
ood for ri
arian-woodland wildlife habitat
g
p
.
' The elements of potential wildlife habitat are rated on a basis
according to the amount of vegetation that is available to wildlife as food
' and cover. The kind and abundance of wildlife that populate an area
depend largely on the amount and distribution of food, cover, and water.
t If any one of these elements is missing, inadequate, or inaccessible,
' wildlife becomes scarce or does not inhabit the area. The areas adjacent
to the existing pit are pastured by domestic livestock but produce plants
' that provide food, cover and some nesting areas that are primarily
attractive to rodents and ground-dwelling birds, and the predators that
' feed on these animals. Nearby wooded areas provide an abundance of p~'
' cover and nesting areas.
The major species likely to be transient to or inhabit the site or
immediately adjacent areas are given below. There are no threatened or
endangered species known to inhabit or frequent the actual area to be

1
