Details follow.
Monitoring Study Purpose: The purpose of this monitoring is to establish site-specific
vibration attenuation chazacteristics of vibration caused by mechanical mining equipment
and the rock crusher that will be operated at the quany. Of specific interest is the nature of
vibration intensities and attenuation chazacteristics in the Rollins sandstone formation.
Monitoring Equipment: Since measured ground motions will be very low in intensity,
measurements should be made with instruments that can measure motions with intensities as
low as 0.005 in/s. MiniSeis or Series III Seismographs, respectively made by White
Seismology or Instantel, can measure these motions and are appropriate for this study. All
equipment used should conform fuily to standards recommended by the Vibration. Section, of
ISEE and should be calibrated within 12 months of the time of use by the manufacturer.
Two instruments will be used for the initial monitoring work and a single instrument will be
used for further measurements if needed.
Duration of Study: Vibration data will be collected over a period not exceeding 30 days.
~uipment Operation and Data Collection: Once initial stripping of overlying soils has
exposed hazd rock surfaces, initial measurement work will be done by Saza Nation of
PreSeisTek, Inc. This work will be coordinated to ensure representatives of Colorado State
Division of Minerals and Geology (CDMG) can be on-sight to oversee it. The author will
