There is no supported indication that pollutants in substantive levels or concentrations <br />exceeding water quality standards will be released from the proposed Line Camp <br />operation to either surface or groundwater. <br />10. There is nothing about the composition of the materials to be mined that would lead <br />one to suspect that injurious levels of pollutants will be generated or released. <br />11. There is nothing notable about the mechanical means of mining proposed that would <br />produce pollutant levels of concern. <br />12..The listed chemical of concern represent a geologically unusual, perhaps <br />unprecedented, suite of elements uncharacteristic of the local rocks and mineral <br />deposit that are proposed for mining and that are present in the Dolores river valley. <br />That notwithstanding, there are no evident segregating or concentrating mechanisms <br />that would elevate any component to adverse levels, other than sediment. <br />13. Sediment discharges would be regulated by other agencies. <br />14. The notion that radon in air concentrations will increase as a result of mining is <br />without merit. <br />15. Mercury is not considered indigenous to the proposed alluvial deposit. A mechanism <br />for concentrating mercury in the local alluvium is not know. Without mercury <br />present, there is thus no mechanism for increasing river concentrations through <br />discharges from the proposed operation. <br />16.
