Elevations were provided by Basin Resources based
upon altimeter readings. The test results indicate compaction generally exceeds 90
• percent of maximum standard Proctor dry density (ASTM D 698). Tests for the New Elk
RDA were performed in traffic areas and a significant portion of the pile was obviously too
wet to compact. The wet areas should be dried and compacted.
We also measured groundwater in the monitor wells on the lower three benches
of the New Elk RDA. The results are presented on Table I. The groundwater
measurements indicate water levels are below the base of the coal refuse. ff you have
any questions, please call.
Very Truly Yours,
CTL/THOMPSON, INC.
Mark G.
