Any diesel equipment used in or inby the )ast open crosscut shall be <br />aNproved under 30 CFR 36 and shall be maintained in the approval <br />condition, <br />2, All diesel equipment shall be operated and maintained in accordance <br />with the manufacturer's operating specifications anA maintenance <br />manual as applicable to affectiny exhaust emissions or permissibili- <br />ty. The rt~anual and specifications shall be available for refer- <br />ence, <br />3. The minimum quantity of air to he maintained over each piece of die- <br />sel equipment during operation or running unattended shall be ]0,000 <br />cfm and the minimur quantity of air passing through the last open <br />crosscut where diesel equipment is used shall be 20,000 cfm and a <br />minimum of 40,000 cfm intake air at loading point, The minimun in- <br />take air at the loading point will be 40,000 cfm or at least 15,000 <br />cfm for each teletram, whichever is greater, <br />Diesel equipment may also be parked unattended in areas where air <br />and all diesel emissions are vented directly to the return air <br />course, <br />4, All diesel equipment shall be examined once every seven days to in- <br />sure the equipment is in proper operating condition, During these <br />exams, the undiluted exhausts of each unit shall be tested, Any <br />time a piece of equipment is seen emitting large amounts of black <br />l • smoke on a continuous basis, it shall be removed from service or re- <br />moved from the mine and the condition corrected, <br />A record of all required diesel examinations shall be kept in a book <br />for that purpose, which shall include the date, sampler's initials, <br />and the results of the examination, The records shall be maintained <br />for reference purposes for at ieast one year, <br />~~ <br />Initial 21/O1/A6 <br /> <br />
