• Temperature

Because long-term temperature records, which permit normal tempe-
ratures to be estimated directly, were not available for the
project site, the following procedure was used to estimate normal
temperatures:
a) One year of multistation monthly temperature data for the site
were correlated with the average of the long-term normal tem-
peratures from five NWS stations.
b) The correlation was then checked using NWS data corresponding
to the same time period as the site data.
Temperature records for the project site were obtained from the
results of the field program conducted by Dames & Moore (1973)
in which six temperature recording stations were operated on
• the Dow Property from October 1970 through November 1971.
The daily data from the six stations were averaged for each res-
pective month to provide an estimate of the mean monthly tempera-
ture for the site. These temperatures were then averaged on a
monthly basis to arrive at the following estimate of the mean
temperature for the 12-month period from December 1970 through
Decmeber 1971:
Period 1970-1971
January
February
March
April
May
June
July
Mean Temperature - Degrees F.
25.1
23.1
24.6
31.9
42.5
48.5
62.5
K-6
