Average daily wind speeds for a valley and a plateau statation
• for the 12-month period from December 1970 through 1971 are
shown in Table R-4.
RELATIVE HUMIDITY
Relative humidity has been measured at the project site by Colony
and by Dames & Moore under its 1970-1971 program. During the
summer of 1974, relative humidity values were also measured.
Relative humidity is extremely susceptible to weather changes
and it is affected by such climatological factors as temperature,
cloud cover, and precipitation (both in amount and number of
occurrences). As these factors vary on a daily as well as a
seasonal basis, relative humidity also varies.
. A long period of record would, be needed to establish the mean
monthly relative humidity. Because data from the site are limited,
only an estimate of possible monthly range of the relative humidity
for the project site can be made. The expected ranges of relative
humidity values for the project site are given in Table R-5.
EVAPORATION
The mean annual total evaporation for the site was estimated at
13.7 inches. This includes snow evaporation, evapotranspiration,
and evaporation from bare soil of 3.9, 6.7 and 4.0 inches per year,
respectively. The monthly distribution of total evaporation (in
inches) is as follows:
Jan Feb Mar Air MaY Jun Jul Aug SeP Oct Nov Dec Annual
• .88 1.00 1.02 1.13 1.32 1.52 1.64 1.46 1.15 .93 .84 .82 13.7
R-11
