Box 187 <br />Craig, Colorado 81626 <br />RE: Trapper Mine Gravel Pit - M-84-168 <br />Dear Mr. Humphries: <br />I have reviewed this application for adequacy and have the following questions <br />and comments that must be addressed in detail at least 5 days prior to the <br />October 24-25, 1984 meeting of the Mined Land Reclamation Board: <br />A. Exhibit B - Mining Plan <br />1. Please provide an approximate timetable of mining and reclamation <br />activities. <br />2. To what depth will topsoil be stripped? <br />B. Exhibit D and E - wildlife, water, vegetation, soils and reclamation plan. <br />1. Upon completion of mining + reclamation, what will be the size of the <br />lake? <br />2. To what depth will topsoil be replaced on all areas of disturbance. <br />Please provide a site specific soil survey which describes the <br />topsoil and subsoil horizons. <br />3. Please provide a mine impact statement from the Colorado Division of <br />Wildlife. <br />4. The operator has indicated that the final land use is to be <br />agriculture and wildlife. In order to increase the areas usefulness <br />to wildlife it is important to increase the "edge effect". <br />Therefore, the staff recommends that the operator incorporate as much <br />irregularity as possible to the shoreline and lake bottom <br />configurations. As this is to be a shallow lake with 3.1 slopes (see <br />rule 6.1F), the staff recommends that the operator leave a small <br />island. <br />5. Please provide a site specific inventory of the existing vegetation. <br />C. Exhibit H - Reclamation Costs <br />1.
