The plant community surrounding the area of the wnversion application is primarily dry
rangeland which primarily consists of:
Letterman needlegrass
Columbia Needlegrass,
Mountain brome
Idaho fescue
Big Sagebrush
Other vegetation found in the area includes:
Slender wheatgrass
Low rabbitbrush
Mountain snowberry
Crested Wheatgrass
Big sagebrush is more prevalent on the east-facing slope on the eastern part of the permit
area. The grasses are more prevalent on the flat rangeland areas to the west and north of
the existing disturbance. Wetlands do exist in the fringe of Cottonwood Gulch but none of
these areas will be affected by the operation.
The approximate live perennial cover of the surrounding rangeland is 50% on the flat grassy
areas and also 50% on the sage slopes, however, most of this cover is canopy cover from
the sage itself.
