Ex--~ ~ 3iT <br />6/82 <br />8D Perma stony loam 3 to 25 percent slopes. This is a deep, well <br />drained, tedium textured soil. It is developing in alluvial material of <br />basalt on nearly level high mesas or terraces and their steep side slopes. <br />The very dark brown stony loam surface is 3 to 8 inches thick. The <br />subsoil is a stony loam about 6 inches thick, The tmderlying material is <br />basalt stones and cobble. <br />Included in mapping are small areas of Hesperus soils. Erosion <br />hazard is moderate. <br />D <br />It is moderate, rapidly pernteable and has a low water capacity. All the <br />acreage mapped is in native range. It is in capacity twit Vils, <br />nonirrigated D, Stony Loam range site. <br />SOILS <br />T`tte gravel pit is located on bench xising out of hay meadows adjacent <br />to the Elk River. <br />The gravel is being mined from a highwall next to an existing county road. <br />The soil on this site is a Perma Stony Loam. The slope goes from 25-65% <br />depending on the location surveyed. <br />If topsoil is to be saved, save only the top 8" to be used latex. <br />VEGETATION <br />Vegatation on site is minimal. Some brume is evident but has migrated <br />from other areas. There is some scattered forbs and shrubs which include, <br />antelope bitterbrush sage and choke cherry. The main gravel pit does not <br />hay= a:,y vegetation that would be worth reseeding. <br />
