C~
•
reclamation areas associated with the gravel pit, where lush, fertilized vegetation will be
more easily found in a location practically devoid of predators.
• 10. "Over grazing of my land (the commenters) land due to the movement of deer from the
gravel pit area."
Any relocation of deer from the gravel pit area during initial development of the pit, before
reclamation grasses are available, will be over a wide area and not to a specific parcel of
land. Furthermore, it seems likely that the deer herd would move to a less populated
location than to a more populated location and therefore move southward, away from the
commenters land.
1 1. "More rodents, Prairie Dogs, etc. will enter my property."
These types of burrowing rodents populate areas where food and habitat are available and
to the extent they aze available. The disruption of habitat for rodents and prairie dogs
does not indicate a need for a migratory site, only the eventual demise of their current
colonies while the disturbance exists. Once the disturbance is reclaimed and food and
habitat is again available, future colonies of rodents and prairie dogs will again establish
themselves. This re-establishment will not diminish the rodent population on the
commenters lands.
12. "Destruction of gardens and crops by dust, pollution, etc."
• The operation will no[ discharge water contaminated by the excavation of construction
materials (gravel) into the nearby streams and ditches. The gravel pit will not exceed the
levels of fugitive dust emissions set forth in its Air Permits. These levels aze kept well
below any imaginable level that could be toxic to humans, garden plants, crops or animals.
13. "Heath hazards of animals, common livestock and poultry"
This is answered in response 12 above. Properly fenced livestock, poultry and controlled
pets should face no serious threat from the operation of the pit itself or the transport of
gravel along Redvale Road.

C-7
