6.4.7 EXHIBIT G -Water Information <br />• The small areal disturbance and shallow excavation created by this gravel pit will not directly <br />affect surface or ground water systems. The open, un-reclaimed pit area will not exceed 10 acres <br />at any time during the mining operation. <br />The pit is not located within a natural drainage system. The pit is expected to encounter an <br />underground aquifer. This aquifer is the sandstone which underlies the gravel deposit and may <br />extend into the gravel bed itself. The perennial level of this ground water is unknown. The <br />operator will not interfere with the aquifer, taking care to adjust the projected horizon of mining to <br />leave a minimum of 2 feet of undisturbed material above the ground water when it is encountered. <br />A berm along the exposed gravel outcrop at [he west end of the Phase I pit will contain within the <br />pit the runoff of precipitation events. The porous nature of the soils in this area and the gentle <br />slope of the pit development will allow the runoff created by brief periods of spring snow melts <br />and summer rains to infiltrate into the ground surface. No additional measures will be required to <br />control surface flow. <br />No sedimentation pond is designed or anticipated. Therefore, the Operator/Applicant has not <br />applied for a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit from the Water Quality <br />Control Division of the Colorado Department of Health. <br />Dr. Michael DeJohn, the owner of record of all lands included within the permit boundary, holds <br />"all water and water rights, ditches and ditch rights, minerals and mineral rights appurtenant <br />thereto or used in connection therewith including but not limited [0 125 shares of The Farmers <br />• Water Development Company."'- <br />The annual projected water usage for the project are as follows: <br />Development <br />Mining (flccess Road Dust Suppression) <br />Reclamation Cirri at¢ ion) <br />Total <br />0.00 acre feet <br />1.47 acre feet <br />x.00 acre feet <br />3.47 acre feet <br />The above; quantities consider the application of water to the surface of the haul road in the <br />amount o:F 3,000 gallons per day for 160 days each year. No other water is necessary for the <br />mining or processing functions. The reclamation rate of approximately 2 acres per year will <br />consume approximately 2-acre feet of water per year in order to successfully establish a self <br />sustainins; vegetation base on the reclaimed acreage of the current year, according to Mr. Wayne <br />Cooley of the CSU extension service. Previously established reclamation vegetation will not be <br />further irrigated.
