• Mean annual temperature for the area is 54 °F with recorded extremes
ranging from over 100°F to below -20°F. The average annual growing season
(Above 20°F) for the area is approximately 200 days.
Wind
Meteorological reporting stations for Canon City and Florence did not
record wind data, so data from the United States Department of Commerce
at the Pueblo Municipal Airport was utilized as the most representative
available baseline data. Pueblo is the closest active reporting station
for which wind data was available. Average monthly wind direction and
velocity for Pueblo is shown on Table 20, Average Monthly Wind Direction
and Velocity. This data is representative of 30 years of recorded wind
measurements over a period from 1930 to 1960.
Prevailing wind direction for Pueblo is from the west except during the
• months of May, June, July and September, when prevailing winds are from
the southeast. Average annual wind velocity is 8.7 mph. Specific
variations in wind velocity and direction are graphically illustrated by
the wind rose presented as Figure 13, Wind Direction and Velocity Summary.
•
2.04.8-4
