I . 12. Re-Seed and Mulch the Packrat Portal Area
Once re-topsoiling is complete, the azea must be immediately seeded and mulched because the Packrat
Road will be removed, preventing future access to the site by vehicle. Seeding and mulching will be
done by broadcast methods using the seed mix described below in Table E-2:
Table E-2 Reclamation Seed Mix:
species
Rincon or Native Four Wing Saltbush
Lutana Cicer Milkvetch
Cedar Palmer Penstemon
Lewis Flax
Hachita Blue Grama
Needle and Threadgrass
Paloma Indian Ricegrass
Nordan Crested Wheatgrass
Luna Pubescent Wheatgrass
• Primaz Slender Wheatgrass
Arriba Western Wheatgrass
Total
Lbs Pure Live Seed Per acre
2.0
0.2
0.1
0.5
0.3
1.6
1.4
1.0
2.0
1.3
1.8
12.2
The rates above aze for dill seeding. Seed application rates will be doubled when using broadcast
methods.
Certified weed free hay or straw mulch will be applied after seeding at the rate of 2,000 lbs per acre.
This mulch will be applied manually given the restricted access to this site and the undulating surface
created by pocking.
The unit cost of seeding and mulching the Packrat Portal azea is estimated to be $1,000 per acre.
Accounting for reseeding at 50% success, this is a total unit cost of $1,500 per acre. The azea of 0.99
acres therefore results in a total estimated cost of $1,485.
• 13. Partial Baclc£illing and Grading of Paclcrat Road
Whirlwind Mine June 07 E-13
