2002 -4-
1.0 INTRODUCTION
003-2203
Golder Associates Inc. (Golder) has prepazed this report for the Cripple Creek and Victor
Gold Mining Company (CC&V) presenting the revised water balance for the Phase IV
Valley Leach Facility (VLF). The revised water balance incorporates several recent changes
to mine production and processing and replaces the water balance submitted as part of
Amendment No. 8 to Permit M-80-244 filed with the OMLR.
The revised Phase IV VLF water balance model is the same probabilistic model that was
used for Amendment No. 8. The water balance model is an ExcelT"i spreadsheet model that
uses internally linked probabilistic softwaze (Crystal Ba11TM) to conduct statistical sampling
of site precipitation and evaporation data. As in Amendment No. 8, the available storage
capacities of the Phase I, Phase II, and Phase IV Pregnant Solution Storage Areas (PSSAs)
and External Storage Pond are compared to the predicted amount of solutions generated
within the VLF from normal processing plus 12-hour draindown at the maximum pumping
rate (assumes instantaneous draindown), the 100-yeaz, 24-hour design storm event and
precipitation based on seasonal variability (95`s percentile).
Golder Associates
