~~
i
EXHIBIT E - RECLAMATION PLAN--First Replacement
Landscape design:
After mining is complete, the area will be shaped and
graded. Where possible, final grading should be done on the
contour to conserve moisture and reduce erosion. Slopes
should be cut or filled so that no slope is greater than
3:1. Seeding sucess will increase if lesser slopes remain.
The land will be scarified to a depth of six inches
following grading to provide better cohesion between topsoil
and the graded area.
Topsoil:
Topsoil will be stockpiled prior to mining. After
grading is completed, topsoil will be spread over the area
as evenly as possible.
Nine to twelve inches of mat r~ will be removed and
In order to minimize the total surface area affected by
the operations at a given time, top soil will be removed
only as required to continue the mining operations.
Therefore, it is anticipated that the extent of the top soil
stock pile will change from time to time. However, once the
stock pile has reached a one-half acre size, the portion of
the same which will not be affected by futher piling
operations will be stablized with annual grain crops such as
wheat, oats or barley. Those portions of the pile which
will not be worked for relatively long periods of time will
be seeded with blue grama, sideoats grama and little
bluestem, the same seed mixture which is to be used for the
permanent reclamation.
stored for reclamation purposes.
top depth exceeds these depths,
soil will be removed and stored.
affected area will be stored. The
be situated as indicated on the acco
Portions of the affected area which have been mined but
which will not be necessary for the continuing operations
will be revegetated with a temporary seed mixture of blue
grama, s;deoats grama and little bluestem, the same mixture
as specified in the reclamation plan. The areas to be
revegetated with a temporary mixture will be those portions
of the affected opposite the direction of the removal
operations. Temporary revegetation will be conducted on
approximately 1 acre increments.
In the event the actual
th actual amount of top
A11 Tn~nil? within the
~_ _.
top soiT'stock pile will
mpanying map.
