Name: `a
Dear Mr. Schreiner: Doc. Date (if no ate stamp): ~ o
I atn writing to express my concern about the MMRR quarry as described in the
referenced 112 Reclamation Permit Application Form. For neazly 20 years, I have been
care-taking the Estella Leopold property ir1 Section 23 immediately adjacent to the
proposed quarry. My current plans are to purchase this property in 2005 and as such, I
am very concerned about the proposed quarry.
Upom review of the 112 application, I have the following concerns:
Mr. Wolf has not adequately planned for proper drainage and erosion control.
The thin soils in this part of the foothills are particularly sensitive and do not
recover quickly firom disruption. Spring and summer rain volume can be
torrential and will inevitably result in erosion and soil run-off from the quarry into
Clear Creek. Mr. Wolf s proposed 30,000 gallons of water for dust control will
also contribute to erosion and run-offpmblems for Clear Creek.
Mr. Wolf also fails to properly plan for site restoration- While rainfall can be
extreme attunes, the total rainfall for this area is quite limited. Consequently,
seeding efforts and general vegetative restoration will be difficult if not
impossible.
The proposed quarry is located in prime elk wintering habitat. The Golden Gate
State Pazk herd regulazly travels through sections 23 and 26 and would be
severely stressed by the activity of the proposed quarry.
In summary, I am strongly opposed to the MMRR quarry, as I believe it would do
iaeparable harm to the natural water, soil, and wildlife resources of this area.
S' cerely,
Joc A.
