Columbine-Stapleton area <br />Deep, nearly level to strongly eloping, well drained gravelly soils. <br />They formed in sandy alluvium; derived from arkosic sedimentary bedrock. <br />This soil area is in the north central part of the survey area and <br />occupies about 2 percent of the total acreage. About 50 percent of the <br />area ie Columbine soils, 30 percent Stapleton soil e, and the remaining <br />20 percent is soils of minor extent. <br />The Columbine soil ie on the nearly level to gently sloping alluvial <br />terraces and fans and contains more gravel than the Stapleton soil. ,The <br />Stapleton soil is on the gently eloping to strongly eloping areas. <br />The minor soils in this area are the somewhat excessively drained <br />1 <br />Blakeland and Ellicott soils and the well drained Blendon, Louviers, <br />and Truckton soils. Also some IIstic Torrifluvents, loamy and <br />Fluveutic Haplaquolls, nearly level are included. <br />Most of this soil area is in native grass and used for grazing <br />livestock. It is also used for homesites and wildlife habitat. <br />j <br />02 <br />
