I EXHIBIT E (Cont'd)
1
ll1ining is being carried out in eight stages so as to minimize
1 the disturbence at any one time. Also in order to minimize
disturbence, the reclamation phase will start very soon after or
in conjuction with the completion of each mining stage. With the
exception of Stage A, no more than two mining stages will ever be
disturbed at the same time. For example, while Stage V is being
mined, Stage IV, now called Phase IV, will be in the process of
being recalimed. eft the same time it should be noted that rec-
lamation of Phases 0,1,2,3 and A will already be complete and
that in Stage VI mining will not have been started. ( See map
Exhibit F.)
Overburden, as described in Exhibit D, is sand or shaley
sandstone and veries between 6 feet and 32 feet. The swell factor
for this material is estimated to be 1.27. After mining is com-
pleted in each stage, available overburden material will be
used to back fill the excavation left by mining. The pit side-
walls will br reduced to at least 3:1. The overall depth will
be reduced in order to create a topography approching that of
the surrounding area.
Although careful regrading and recoiling will occure,
basinal areas will remain after all backfill material is used.
It is not expected that these low spots will create any problems.
The backfill material is largely sand, and the material remain-
ing on the pit floor is expected to be primarly sand and shaley
sandstone.
-17-
