~• <br />~~ <br />' SUMMARY OF THE WELD COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br />December 3, 1991 <br />Page 4 <br />CASE NUMBER: funended USR-817 <br />NAME: Weld County, c/o Gordon Lacy <br />ADDRESS: 915 10th Street, Greeley, Colorado 80631 <br />REQUEST: A Site Specific Development Plan and a Special Review Permit for an <br />open-cut gravel pit (a major facility of a public utility) located <br />in the A (Agricultural) zone district. <br />LECAL DESCRIPTION: Part of Section 27, T12N, R63W of the 6th P.M., Weld <br />County, Colorado. <br />LOCATION: Approximately 5.5 miles west of Hereford, north of Weld County Road <br />136.5 and west of Weld County Road 71. <br />Don Carroll, Weld County Engineering, explained this is the Peters Pit /j3. This <br />will be the third expansion of the pit. They are chasing a vein of gravel and <br />Weld County will make good use of this additional 86 acres to obtain sand and <br />gravel for use in the immediate area. They will also be using it on projects as <br />backfill for bridges and culverts. Weld County has signed a lease agreement with <br />John Peters for 10 years. The mining plan is to remove the existing topsoil, <br />stockpile it for final reclamation as each block of mining is completed. This <br />operation is a dry pit, there is no surface or groundwater on-site. Jean iloEfman <br />asked if reclamation processes occur in the spring. Don Carroll said yes. <br />The Chairman asked if there was anyone in the audience who wished to speak for <br />or against this application. No one wished to speak. <br />Jean Hoffman moved Case Number Amended USR-817 be approved by the Planning <br />Commission based on the Department of Planning Services' recommendation and <br />development standards. Judy Yamaguchi seconded the motion. <br />The Chairman asked the secretary to poll the members of the Planning Commission <br />for their decision. Jean Hoffman - yes; Tom Rulon - yes; Judy Yamaguchi - yes; <br />Don Feldhaus - yes; Shirley Camenisch - yes; Bud Clemons - yes. Motion carried. <br />CASE NUMBER: USR-962 <br />NAME: Weld County, c/o Gordon Lacy <br />ADDRESS: 915 10th Street, Greeley, Colorado 80631 <br />REQUEST: A Site Specific Development Plan and a Special Review Permit for an <br />open-cut gravel pit (a major facility of a public utility) located <br />in the A (Agricultural) zone district. <br />LECAL DESCRIPTION: Part of the SE4 of Section 7, TlON, R61W of the 6th <br />P.M., Weld County, Colorado. <br />LOCATION: Approximately one (1) mile south of the Town of Grover; west of Weld <br />County Road 87, and south of Weld County Road 120. <br />Don Carroll, Weld County Engineering, explained they are moving the facility from <br />one pasture to the next pasture and butting up against the existing Facility. <br />Weld County has a lease with Dave Bashor to run for 5 years. This is a 10 acre <br />parcel and the mining plan will be to remove the existing topsoil and stockpile <br />it until they are ready to reclaim the mined land. This is also considered a dry <br />pit. <br />
