Dept. of Matural Resources <br />RE: Your letter of June 15, 1982, pertaining to the <br />Rocky Flat Gravel application #82-129. <br />Proof of publication and return receipt of certified <br />mail sent to Don and Donna Martin were sent to you on <br />Friday, June 18, 1982. <br />Exhibits B and C <br />Log samples of the area have not reached maximum depth <br />of the gravel which 1s characterized as coarse, sandy, boulders, <br />silty, these samples have been taken to depths of twenty feet. <br />We propose to mine ten feet of gravel extending northward from <br />the old pit in afan-shaped direction, <br />Processing is not expected to be done daily. A plant <br />x111 be set on site, anri the gravel will be stockpiled. 1Je <br />expect to process an estimated 15,000 tons. During work the <br />vertica] not xceed ten feet on the working face, <br />xhich x111 be sloped following use. <br />The topsoil stockpiles will he on the west side of the <br />pit sloped 3:1 to help prevent erosion xith seeding if necessary. <br />The irrigation ditch is located in the buffer zone which <br />x111 protect it from pit activity. TY~ees, etc. already exist <br />in this area which x111 help screen the pit from the highxay. <br />The haul road does not cross the ditch. <br />The water table depth indicated by well depth to xater <br />indicates seventy-five feet or more to ground water. No <br />ground water should be exposed in this dry pit operation. <br />Exhibit D <br />previous use of the old pit posed no problem with the <br />processing. If necPSOary, haulers can use covers on their <br />loads. Reservoir water owned by Mr. Goe~mer could be used <br />for sprinkling. <br />
