RE: Albert Frei & Sons, Inc., Pits Covered by Deed of Trust
Bond
Attached are reclamation cost estimates for two of the Frei pits
referenced in your 1/12/94 memo. The other pits referenced in that
memo will be handled by Gregg Squire or have been determined by
Gregg to have adequate bonds.
The pits that I was assigned were not inspected. The reclamation
costs are based on information available in the Division's files -
particularly the reclamation plans and annual reports. These costs
are considered conservative from the stand-point of the states
liability because they are based on the maximum level of permitted
disturbance (tempered by information from the annual reports and
from inspection reports in the files).
BIIMMARY OF FINDINGS
Worthing Pit (M-77-5261
The Division currently holds a bond in the amount of $40,000.00.
This amount was based on a cost estimate supplied by the operator
in 1984. The last inspection of the pit was conducted by Dave
Berry in March of 1987. The attached cost estimate indicates that
a bond in the amount of $70,000.00 is required.
Bromley Pit (M-79-1651
The Division currently holds a bond in the amount of $7200.00.
This amount was approved by the Board when the permit was issued in
1979. The last inspection of the pit was conducted by Gregg Squire
in March of 1992. The attached cost estimate indicates that a bond
in the amount of $20,500.00 is required.
