TifEt:
I have reviewed the Notice of Intent (NOI) and Federal Coal
Exploration License (FCEL) filed with the state of Colorado and
Bureau of Land Management in regards to potential wildlife impacts
from coal exploration activity 6outh of Hayden Colorado. I offer
the following comments on the basis of the information contained in
those documents.
There is no known critical habitat for any Federal or State
threatened or endangered (TfiE) specie within the proposed boundary
of the area of exploration. While the Sal Eagle and Greater
s~adhill Crane may visit the area on an infrequent basis there are
no anticipated negative impacts to either specie as a result of the
proposed exploration.
SENSITIVE SPECIES/SFECIPS OF SPECIAL CONCERN
The Sags Grouses and coltnabian Shnro-Tailed Grouse are two species
of special Concern that are found within the proposed area of
exploration. Areas of critical habitat Por these species have been
communicated to The Whitewood Geological Group, Inc. in
previous communications. I would recommend that exploration
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOUgCES, James & LorJ+I+aed. 6uwV+e Director
WILDLIFE COMM16SrON, Tlwmac M.
